Probate Quick Form

For smaller, simpler estates

Florida has a shorter form of probate for smaller estates, and a longer one for everything else. This is the intake for the shorter path: the decedent's details, the will, what the estate holds, who inherits, and who will act for it.

The shorter probate intake, for estates likely to qualify for Florida's summary administration.

When the quick form fits

Generally, when most of these are true.

  • The estate is modest, or the person died more than two years ago
  • The assets are known and there is no dispute about who inherits
  • There is a will, or the family agrees on how Florida's intestacy rules apply
  • No creditor problems are expected

How it works

Answer the questions online and upload what you have — the will, a death certificate, a list of assets. A Florida attorney's office reviews the submission, confirms the estate fits the shorter path, and handles the filing. If it turns out to need formal administration, you are told before anything is filed.

What's included

  • Online probate intake for the estate
  • Review by a Florida attorney's office
  • Confirmation of whether the estate fits summary administration

What it does not cover

  • Court filing fees and certified copies
  • Formal administration — that is the full form
  • Contested estates or litigation between heirs

Is this you?

If none of these quite fit, that is worth a conversation rather than a guess.

  • Families settling a modest Florida estate
  • Anyone handling an estate where the person died more than two years ago
  • A personal representative with a clear will and no disputes

What if the estate does not qualify?

You are told before anything is filed, and the intake carries over to the full form — nothing is re-entered.

Do I need the original will?

Florida requires the original will to be deposited with the court. Upload a copy for the intake and keep the original safe; the attorney's office will tell you where it goes.
