What we collect, and what we do with it.

Where this policy applies

This policy covers estateplansforlife.com and the Estate Plans For Life document system, where you build your documents. The document system is operated for us by LegalGEN, our technology provider.

Information you give us

When you use the plan finder, contact us, or ask for a call back, we collect the details you enter: your name, email address, phone number, and the answers you give about your household and property.

When you apply for a discount program rate, we also collect your employer, your role, your work email if you give it, and a badge, unit or employee number if you give one. We use those only to confirm the rate and we do not verify them with your employer.

When you build documents, you provide the information needed to prepare them, your legal name and contact details, your family, your beneficiaries, the people you are appointing, and a rough picture of what you own. You also create an account with a password so you can return and update your answers.

Information collected automatically

We record standard technical information when you use the site: pages visited, referring page, approximate location derived from your network, browser and device type.

Where you arrive from an advertisement, we record the campaign identifiers attached to that link so we know which campaigns are worth running.

How we use it

We use what you give us to:

• Prepare and deliver the documents you ordered
• Contact you about your plan, a consultation, or a question you asked
• Verify your identity at signing, as the notarization process requires
• Follow up if you start building documents and do not finish
• Understand which parts of the site work and which do not
• Meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations

Who it is shared with

Your information is shared with the service providers we use to run the business: the document system (LegalGEN), the online notarization provider, payment processing, email delivery, and analytics. Each of them may use it only to provide their service to us.

If you purchase a consultation, the information needed for that consultation is shared with the attorney providing it.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

Confidentiality

We treat what you tell us as confidential and use it only for the purposes above. Estate Plans For Life is not a law firm, so using this site or the document system does not create an attorney-client relationship or attorney-client privilege, see our disclaimer.

How long we keep it

Your document-system account, your answers and your finished documents are kept for as long as your account is open, so you can return and update them. If you ask us to close your account, we delete that information within 90 days, except for records we are required to keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons, which we keep for seven years.

Contact details and plan-finder answers you give us without building documents are kept for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, then deleted.

Analytics and advertising records are kept for up to 14 months.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted where we are not required to keep it. You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in the message.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technology to keep the site working, measure traffic, and attribute advertising. You can block cookies in your browser; parts of the site may then behave differently.

Security

Information is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access limited to the people and systems that need it. No method of storage is perfect; if we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will tell you.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted here with a new date. Material changes affecting existing customers will also be communicated directly.
