What remote online notarization is

Florida permits an audio-video signing session with a commissioned online notary. You appear on camera, your identity is verified, witnesses attend the same session, and the notary applies an electronic notarial certificate. The session is recorded and retained, which is part of what makes it defensible later.

For a will, Florida sets additional requirements around the ceremony itself. That is precisely why the process is run for you rather than left as a form you download and figure out.

What the appointment looks like

Practically, from your side:

• You need a device with a working camera and microphone, and a stable connection.
• You need your unexpired government-issued photo ID.
• Identity verification usually includes knowledge-based questions and a credential check.
• Witnesses join the same video session — you do not have to recruit two neighbours.
• The notary walks the ceremony in order and the session is recorded.

What still needs ink

Not everything is electronic. Deeds recorded with a county clerk, and some institution-specific forms, may still be handled on paper depending on where they are filed and who receives them. Some banks and title companies are simply slower to accept electronic originals than the law requires them to be.
